The Friends of Hart Mountain National Antelope Refuge is a nonprofit, independent, volunteer-managed group. We seek to work with an array of stakeholders to enhance the Refuge's value to local communities, the public, and others while supporting the goals and purposes of the Refuge. Hart Mountain National Antelope Refuge was established in 1936 as a range for remnant herds of pronghorn antelope. Since then, the management of the Refuge has broadened to include conservation of all its native wildlife species, as well as the restoration of native ecosystems for the public's enjoyment, education, and appreciation. The rugged terrain of Hart Mountain creates a variety of habitats for more than 300 wildlife species, including Pronghorn, California Bighorn Sheep, Mule Deer, Elk, Mountain Lion, Redband Trout, and Greater Sage-Grouse to name a few. Please consider becoming a member of the Friends of Hart Mountain to help in our mission to support the Refuge and its work.
